JOY: Original Cast Recording

Label: RCA Victor ‎– LSO-1166

Released:1970

The heyday of the Oscar Brown Jr. & Jean Pace dynamic duo! This is an original cast album of a show first produced in 1966, at the Happy Medium, in Chicago. Brown called it “A musical come-together,” as the show combined a variety of talented musicians including Brown and wife Jean,, Luis Henrique, Master Henry Gibson and Sivuca. A cornerstone in the stage show Joy ‘66, was a story OBJ reenacted and told entirely in verse, called “Womens Ways.” That “long poem,” -as Brown called it- became the middle of a musical stage play he wrote, directed and produced called: In De Beginnin’. The success of the ‘66 live show captured on this album, is the predecessor of what later became a hit show with extended runs both off-Broadway in New York, and in Chicago; Joy '69.
