We proudly shine our Centennial Spotlight on Chicago’s extraordinary Dee Alexander—an acclaimed vocalist, songwriter, improviser, educator, radio host, and treasured member of the AACM family.

On Saturday, September 26, Dee Alexander and Bruce Henry will celebrate the words, music, wit, and enduring spirit of Oscar Brown Jr. in “It’s All About OBJ” at the 20th Annual Hyde Park Jazz Festival.

They will be joined by pianist Miguel de la Cerna, who worked side by side with Oscar for many years and continued working closely with Oscar’s daughters for years after Oscar’s passing. With Jeremiah Hunt on bass and Charles Heath IV on drums, Dee and Bruce will help carry Oscar’s work into its next century—alive, evolving, and still speaking to the world.

We are deeply honored to recognize Dee Alexander as part of “100 Years of Genius: A Centennial Celebration of Oscar Brown Jr.”
